Day 9: Keep Your Bed Sacred
Use your bed only for sleep (and intimacy). No scrolling, no TV, no work emails.

Day 9: Your Bed Has One Job ✨
You're on Day 9 of your 30-day sleep journey, and here's something simple but powerful: your bed has one job. Just one. Sleep (and, well, intimacy). That's it.
Starting today, we're giving your bed back its purpose. No more scrolling through your phone under the covers. No more answering work emails propped up on pillows. No more falling asleep with the TV on. Just sleep.
Why This Changes Everything
Your brain is really, really good at learning associations. When you eat at the kitchen table, your body knows it's time to digest. When you sit at your desk, your mind shifts into work mode. And when you get into bed... well, your brain should know it's time to sleep.
But if you're doing a dozen different activities in bed, your brain gets confused. It doesn't know if bed means sleep, or if it means scrolling Instagram, or if it means watching another episode, or if it means worrying about tomorrow's meeting.
When you keep your bed sacred for sleep, you're teaching your brain a clear, simple signal: bed equals sleep. That's it. No mixed messages. No confusion. And over time, just the act of getting into bed starts to make you feel sleepy, because your brain has learned what comes next.
Think of it like this: you're creating a new relationship with your bed. One built on clarity, boundaries, and respect. And that kind of relationship makes falling asleep so much easier.

How to Make This Stick
Move the distractions. Tonight before bed, take your phone, your laptop, your tablet, and your TV remote and move them out of arm's reach from your bed. Put your phone on a dresser across the room or better yet, in another room entirely. If you use your phone as an alarm, get a simple alarm clock instead.
Create new spots for old habits. If you love scrolling before sleep, do it on the couch. If you like reading emails in the morning, make coffee first and sit at the kitchen table. Give those activities a new home that isn't your bed.
Be patient with yourself. If you've been working from bed or scrolling in bed for years, this will feel weird at first. You might feel bored when you first get into bed. That's actually good. Boredom is one step away from sleepiness. Let it happen.

The Respect Your Space Deserves
Your bed is where you rest, where you heal, where you dream. It deserves to be treated like the sanctuary it is. And you deserve a space that supports your sleep, not one that keeps you wired and awake.
This isn't about rules for the sake of rules. This is about creating an environment where sleep can actually happen. Where your body feels safe to let go. Where your brain knows, without question, what's supposed to happen next.
You're doing this beautifully. Tomorrow on Day 10, we'll talk about what to do when you wake up in the middle of the night and can't fall back asleep. Sleep well tonight 🌙
